Mississippi voters approved medical marijuana in 2020 by a remarkable 74% margin, one of the strongest expressions of voter support for cannabis reform anywhere in the country. Despite this overwhelming mandate, the program remains limited and recreational use carries serious penalties. Federal legalization would honor the clear will of Mississippi voters and create a path toward a regulated market that could generate significant tax revenue for a state that needs it.
